Dudley, Our Pet Idol!

Here is Dudley and his mommy, Penny. And do you see that basket on the arm of the chair? Those are filled with doggie cookies, BUT!!! They are not for doggies as I had first thought they were, but for human consumption. AND!!! They were fresh baked TODAY!!! And worse yet is the fact that Penny would not give me one. Not a one!

JUST KIDDING!!!

Click on the picture and blow it up so you can see the detail of those cookies. Why one looks just like Dudley! OK. I'm lying. The cookie has two eyes and Dudley just has one.

And quite honestly? They can be eaten by doggies. No raisins nor chocolate in them.

Humpft! Then what good are they I ask???

At Radio City Music Hall in 1996.
It's pretty darned cool!!!

And here's a link to tell you the history of St. Paddy's Day.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
The day when everybody is Irish!

Landscaping finished

You won't believe the work entailed with landscaping this home. There were marble rocks in the previous beds and all were pulled out and laid on the driveway to be cleaned and rinsed off. All previous greenery pulled out and new homes were found for them in the backyard. Then the black netting bought and laid down with marble rocks laid back down. The old ones and LOTS of new. Some areas, like the spots on each side of the garage door have volcanic rocks in lieu of the marble ones. JoAnn Fabrics had a sale on clay pots for 50% off and I went shopping looking for something different and unique. Then I looked for new greenery that would be pot friendly. Unfortunately, the Hibiscus wasn't and has already been taken out and replaced with the two palms (on each side of the garage door) that have been thriving for almost five years in pots on my lanai. A lovely Corn Plant in the enclosed porch is a nice added touch (thanks Matt!). Then a lot of months went by and living in Florida I knew we had to get the border done before it became oppressively hot, and that is the way I approached the task with my dear husband, Harold. Without thinking about it long at all he agreed and we were on our way to Home Depot, who gave us very poor customer service, so a couple more miles (no big deal in the scheme of things), and we were at Lowes and soon we had a whole skid of border block loaded onto the back of our pickup truck.

Can you say GROAN???

Ha ha ha ha ha ... I just can't help but laugh as I visualize how that pickup truck looked with all that weight on it. And slowly and carefully we made our way home. Well, any of you who know Harold and his pickup and you know we were not only to get that block off ASAP, but immediately afterwards that truck was washed, the bed rinsed out and shined up, and put back into the garage.

Am I pleased with the results of the landscape? Yes. Very pleased. Although it took about 9 months to complete, it is now complete. The nice thing about it is that it's low maintenance. Just watering a few pots in the dry spells. Can't shake a feather at it.

And cost? I would have to say, marble and volcanic rocks, pots, plants, angel statue (way over to the right), border block and the job cost approximately $1200. Of course you cannot put a price on all your time, but it's worth it to know you did it yourself (with a lot of help from family). Your ideas. Your planning. Your job. Your home.

Meet O.C.

Oh wait a minute. He doesn't want to meet you. He's under the bed and if he doesn't see you, you can't see him. The tail? He doesn't know who's tail that is and believe me, it's not his. Ha ha ha ... he does this all the time. He doesn't believe his back end is part of him. And most importantly, he believes nobody knows where he is -- and that he's safe from anything.

Spitzer verses Clinton

Eliot Spitzer just resigned his post of governor of New York State, the 2nd largest state in the union. He did it with as much dignity as he was able to muster up as Silda, his wife, stood by his side. The big thing is that he accepted responsibility for his behavior.

Kudos Eliot! I have a lot of respect for you.

Flash Back: Bill Clinton. "I did not have sex with that girl." And then swearing to Hillary that he's telling the truth and both going world wide to announce that he was not lying as he continued to deny having a liaison with Monica Lewinski. And then having to go to court and consequently perjuring himself when the blue dress came into play.

Shame on you Bill. Take a lesson from Eliot.

And it's because of Bill that I absolutely cannot, and will not, vote for Hillary. I cannot stand the thought of putting up with Bill's shenanigans for another 4 or 8 years!

That hussie!

I can't believe this girl! Flaunting herself to Dudley to all who would look. Why she even had a sign on her back professing her adoration to Mr. Dudley himself. I found out with a bit of investigating that her name is Tess. And her momma's name is Diane.

Angel Rescue Group

I've got to put a plug in for the rescue group. This is Tammy who is associated with the group and she was called by a vets office to come and see what she could do for Dudley when he was a couple of days old and weighed just 3 ounces. Well, she did a lot as Dudley is now an idol

Note Dudley kissing his first momma? I got such a kick out of that. Tammy says it's because he spent his first month in her bosom. He has not forgotten that either. She fed him with a dropper and miraculously she was able to keep him alive.

Tammy said something terrific and I'm going to quote her here. "I saved his life, and Penny gave him a life." Isn't that beautiful???Here's Tammy again with Mr. Peepers.

Working the Circuit

Oh yes we are! Strolling around all decked out. And check out Dudley. See that pink tongue just slurping up the face of this friendly passerby?

(If you don't see it then click on photo to enlarge)

Oh yeah, and I've got my sign flashing wherever I go.
Vote for Dudley #14!!!

SW Florida's Pet Idol

Meet Dudley and his mom, Penny. Penny rescued Dudley when he was just a pup. Are they not a truly handsome pair?
And this is Marie, Penny's dear friend holding Mr. Peepers. She helps Penny take care of the boys when she's away.

We're all down at Coconut Point Mall in Estero, Florida. There is one heck of a contest going on and the competition is not going to be tough at all. Not with Dudley strutting around in his finest!
